Q&a With Rani Manicka
June 2010
How did you get started in writing?
I was bored with the restaurant trade and naively decided I wanted to be an author, but by some incredible piece of luck I sent my three chapters to the Darley Anderson Agency, who signed me on.
What was the last book you bought?
The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins
What books would you take on a desert island?
The Road by Cormick McCarthy and The Greatest Secret by David Icke
tell us about your latest book....
Very broadly it is the story of love, forbidden and otherwise.
And what's in the pipeline?
What's in the pipeline is still naked and faceless.
How do you go about doing research for your books?
Same as everyone I suppose. Library, internet, face to face interviews, overheard conversations etc.
Why did you approach the Darley Anderson Agency?
They were the only ones who seemed unembarrassed about money.
What advice do you have for people hoping to find their first publisher?
None. Where there is a will, there is a way.
